I have recently installed the new Technical preview of windows 10 on my hp pavilion touchsmart 14-b109wm. I upgraded from Windows 8.1. I wanted to try out the Cortana thing, but it wasn’t hearing me apparently. So after installing and uninstalling drivers and what not, I have found that the microphone just is not working.
I tried to make a skype call, and I couldn’t be heard on the other end as well. Nothing is getting picked up on this microphone. I went and downloaded drivers directly from HP and I have nothing. Apparently it is an IDT HIgh definition Audio driver, it listed as default recording device.
It is also listed as ‘internal microphone array’. So, I’m kind of stumped here, after installing windows 10, no microphone, and trying the drivers and then installing an older set didn’t work either. Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions?
This issue might be because of settings related to Microphone.
The issue cab be resolved by making Microphone as the default device and updating the sound card drivers.
Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled and is set as default.
Make sure that the microphone that you are using is not disabled and is set as default in the computer. Follow these steps to check this:
a) Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
b) Now, right click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
c) Select “Microphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the microphone is enabled.
d) You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.
