The Volume icon in my task bar does not work.

The Volume icon in my task bar does not work. I keep getting referred to already answered questions for “Volume icon missing from taskbar”

My icon is NOT MISSING, it just doesn’t do anything. It was working perfectly well before today, now it is just an icon! Normally, I click on the icon, and a volume bar appears, where I can set the volume to suit the task I am working on. I.E. Skype calls, I have the highedt setting as HP laptop sound is ****. Games with background music (facebook Candy crush saga etc) I have the sound turned down.

To recap, before someone tells me how to restore the icon:- The Icon is not missing, it is on the taskbar but does not work.

Eventually I suppose, Windows 10 will drive people insane with it’s constant gliches. I have “system restored” more since this horrible platform was introduced than with every platform since 1990.
