Q. Does anybody know how to stop the Windows Compatability Telemetry (CompatTelRunner.exe) from starting on Windows 10? It causes extremely high disk usage which results in large performance issues.

Answer.

To disable compattelrunner.exe, just execute:

Task Scheduler  – Microsoft – Windows – Application Experience – right click on each task for: DISABLE

Et voilà !

No more problem on my Dell Inspiron 7520.

At least, a way out shorter answer than the upper ‘Microsoft Support Engineer’ (I hate those kind of answer, they could tie you up on your computer for months, for nothing).
