So Installed Windows early this morning and once I was able to log in onto my personal account. I got a pop up saying ” * Critical Error * Start Menu and Cortana aren’t working. They’ll try to fix it the next time you sign in. “
I read online to try a different account, I have tried that with numerous accounts and I still have the problem.
I am using a Dell Inspirion 14z
Upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
Error Info
- What is the specific critical error text you’re seeing?
- Did the issue go away if you follow the guidance in the dialog, or does it come up again?
- When you see the error text, can you still launch win32 applications? (try WIN+R and entering “notepad”)
- If you open task manager when you see the critical error dialog appear (press CTRL+Shift+Esc), do you see sihost.exe running in the details tab?
- From CMD prompt, what is the output of “reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\IdentityStore\Providers\{D7F9888F-E3FC-49b0-9EA6-A85B5F392A4F}”? (without the quotes – you should be able to copy this, then press CTRL+Shift+Esc to launch task manager, and File>”Run New Task” and enter “cmd”. When the command prompt window appears, right click on it and select paste and press enter)
